The Bayside U16 boys' soccer team, the Thunder, under Coach Fraga DaRosa, traveled to Lafayette, LA March 15/16 to claim the Lagniappe Cup by beating the U15 LA state champions and then the LA U16 state champion finalist in a rematch that was the championship game. The Santos had beaten the Thunder in the first game of the tournament, but the Thunder earned a rematch by winning their bracket. Overall the Thunder won three games and lost one. They scored 7 goals while allowing 3.
This is the second tournament the Thunder has won in 2008. The first was the PFC Pensacola Classic February 16/17. The Thunder starts State Cup play at the end of March.
