By Ron Hillis >The United, under Coach Ken MacDonald, ended their final tournament appearance with a split in the storm-shortened Mobile Soccer Showcase. The United played a strong second half in a 3-1 loss to the eventual tournament champions, Dallas Texans. But it was not enough to overcome a two goal defensive lapse from the first half. Derek Borgsteede scored the goal early in the second, but the United could get no closer.
>The night game against the Baton Rogue Soccer Club was a fitting end to the season with both teams playing hard. BRSC went on top with a rocket shot late in the first half but defender Zach Woodson pushed the ball through two defenders from the outside and scored the first goal of his Bayside career. Midfielder Nolan Smith added another half way through the second with a hard ground shot that slipped pass the keeper. Rico Vargas, United goalkeeper, blocked several hard corner post shots as BRSC pressed to take advantage of the United being down a player from two yellow cards. United defender Hunter Hillis cleared the ball as the whistle blew to preserve a well played 2-1 win in the rain-soaked conditions.
