United Concludes in Mobile Showcase
>The United, under Coach Ken MacDonald, ended their final tournament appearance with a split in the storm-shortened Mobile Soccer Showcase. The United played a strong second half in a 3-1 loss to the eventual tournament champions, Dallas Texans. But it was not enough to overcome a two goal defensive lapse from the first half. Derek Borgsteede scored the goal early in the second, but the United could get no closer.
>The night game against the Baton Rogue Soccer Club was a fitting end to the season with both teams playing hard. BRSC went on top with a rocket shot late in the first half but defender Zach Woodson pushed the ball through two defenders from the outside and scored the first goal of his Bayside career. Midfielder Nolan Smith added another half way through the second with a hard ground shot that slipped pass the keeper. Rico Vargas, United goalkeeper, blocked several hard corner post shots as BRSC pressed to take advantage of the United being down a player from two yellow cards. United defender Hunter Hillis cleared the ball as the whistle blew to preserve a well played 2-1 win in the rain-soaked conditions.

UNITED Debutes in Orange Beach Shootout
>The Bayside United recorded a shutout against the Mandeville LA Haze with a 3-0 win. A hard crossing shot from forward Landon Scheffler scored, while fellow forwards Blake Trotter and Nathan Jensen pressured for two more goals. Saturday night the United lost a hotly contested game to Gulf Coast United 3-1 from free kicks off questionable foul calls. Bayside United controlled the game and was ahead 1-0 from a perfect strike by midfielder Mickey Finemore, until late in the second half when the free kicks turned the tide.
>The #3 ranked MS Gulf Coast United went on to win the tournament Sunday. The defeat placed Bayside United in the consolation game against Kentucky’s #11 team, the Jackson Purchase FC. The United were cruising to a 2-1 win off goals from Scheffler and Jensen when a late foul call allowed for a tying free kick. The 2010 United will next play in the Gulf Coast Invitational April 17/18.
